PRIME MINISTER THOMAS MEETS HAITIAN AMBASSADOR IN NEW Y
 Grenada's Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas signs register expressing sympathy and support for the people of Haiti as Ambassador Mrrores and Grenada's Ambassador to the UN H.E Dr. Dessima Williams look on. New York, January 28, 2010 -- Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas, accompanied by Grenada’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Her Excellency, Dr. Dessima Williams, this morning paid a courtesy call on the Haitian Ambassador in New York, His Excellency Leo Merores.
Mr. Thomas expressed Grenada’s support for the country in the aftermath of the 7.0 earthquake in Port au Prince which left an estimated 150,000 people dead and thousands more homeless.
The Prime Minister signed a register which expressed his sympathy and support for the Haitian people.
“There has been an outpouring of support for Haiti. Grenadians have responded very well to the call to assist in this process. We hope, within the regional context to play a significant role in the reconstruction of Haiti,” the Prime Minister said.

NECESSITOUS PAYMENTS
St. George’s, December 27, 2010 -- The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development is advising beneficiaries of the necessitous fund that monetary payments will be made in St. George’s on Thursday 28th January 2010 and in the outer parishes on Friday January 29th, 2010.
Payments will be made at the Government Treasury and Revenue Offices island wide from 10:00 am.
