OPPOSITION SAYS REVIEW SCHOOL BOOKS PROGRAMME
 

St. George’s, Grenada, March 4th, 2010: Members of Her Majesty’s Opposition are calling on the Government of Grenada to conduct an urgent review of the school books programme so as to reduce the pain it is causing to the poor and vulnerable and to ensure it does not deny any child the right to an education according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child which was signed and ratified by the Government of Grenada.

PRAYER FOR RAIN

St. George, March 5, 2010 -- Catholics in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique will be praying for rain in churches throughout the diocese beginning Sunday. Bishop Vincent Darius has asked that special prayers be offered at all Masses.

USAID OFDA SCHOOL SAFETY TRAINING WORKSHOP

St. George, March 5, 2010 -- The United States Agency for International Development/Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance for Latin America and the Caribbean (USAID OFDA) in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) will conduct a three-day School Safety Training Workshop in Grenada from March 16th to 18th, 2010 at the Media Room, Grenada National Stadium.

KIRANI JAMES NAMED S.E.C FRESHMAN RUNNER OF THE YEAR

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama, March 5, 2010 -- Freshman, Kirani James, was named the SEC Men's Freshman Runner of the Year, as voted on by the league's head coaches, the Southeastern Conference announced on Thursday. The Grenadian runner is the second Alabama athlete to garner the award (Emmanuel Bor, 2007).
