LUCASGATE, GRENADAGATE, SPYGATE: NO CHARGES

St. George, March 10, 2008 -- In a guarded comment to GrenadaBroadcast  on Monday, Political Leader of the National Democratic Congress, Hon. Tillman Thomas advised that the Director of Public Prosecutions has ruled that no charges will be laid against executive members of the NDC following allegations that they had held a police officer against his will, taken his private property and caused bodily harm.

Mr. Thomas received a call earlier today from the Criminal Investigation Department informing him of this development.

Members of the NDC had recently apprehended one of two persons who were allegedly in the process of recording a meeting of the party's executive at its headquarters.  A subsequent release from the office of the Commissioner of Police then claimed that one of his officers had been caused bodily harm and held against his will by members of the executive, but made no mention of the allegation that the NDC's executive were being clandestinely recorded.

Several members of the executive were interrogated over the past week, and at least one --- Senator Arley Gill --- told GrenadaBroadcast that he expected that he would be arrested and charged.
