Following a tough encounter with a Category 4 Hurricane on September 7,
2004, Grenada has returned to being one of the most idyllic Caribbean
vacation spots and a land of opportunity for investors. We at Grenada
Broadcast invite you to share the beauty of this still relatively
unspoiled paradise by taking a look at some of our incredible scenery
and, eventually, spending a few days with us in the near future. Who
knows? Like an increasing number of other persons from industrialized
countries, you just may wind up as a permanent member of our Grenadian
family.
Enjoy, and we hope to see you soon....
General Grenada Facts
The state of Grenada is made up of three islands: Grenada, Carriacou,
and Petit Martinique. Grenada is the largest of the three, with a width
of twelve miles (18 km) and a length of twenty-one miles (34 km). The
state 's total area is 133 square miles. Its highest point is Mount
Saint Catherine, at 2,757 feet. Carriacou is much less mountainous, and
has an area of 13 square miles with wonderful sandy beaches.
Climate: Average temperatures range from 24C/ 75F to 30C/ 87F,
tempered by the steady and cooling trade winds. Our lowest temperatures
occur between November and February. Because of Grenada's remarkable
topography, the island also experiences climate changes according to
altitude. Our driest season is between January and May. Note though,
that even during the rainy season, from June to December, it rarely
rains for more than an hour at any time and generally not every day.
Currency: The East Caribbean dollar is the currency used,
locally; and is linked to the US dollar. At the banks, you will get
EC$2.67 for US$1 in cash, and EC$2.68 for US$l in travelers cheques.
Shops will give EC$2.60. DM Cash is accepted at Barclays Bank only and
DM1 is approximately EC$1.70. The British pound is equivalent to
approximately EC $4.92.
