FUND RAISING WITH ELECTIONS IN MIND
Toronto, March 26, 2008 -- Members of NDC Toronto, who held their first major fund raiser recently, say they are pleased with the outcome of the event.
"It was a success on all counts,'' said Sandra Pierre, Secretary of NDC
Toronto. "The turnout was great and it included not just Grenadians in
Toronto, but also people who traveled from Montreal and the United
States. It was a fun event and, most of all, we met our objective of
realizing a profit from the fund raiser.''
NDC Toronto was formally established last September during a visit to
Canada by a delegation headed by Opposition Leader Honourable Tillman
Thomas, who also is head of the National Democratic Congress.
The Toronto group, like others across North America and in the United
Kingdom, is committed to assisting the NDC in winning Grenada's
soon-to-be-held general election.
"The next general election is critical to the future of Grenada,
Carriacou and Petit Martinique,'' Pierre said. "We plan on providing
whatever financial and material assistance we can afford to Brother
Tillman and the NDC.''
Pierre, on behalf of the executive and membership of NDC Toronto,
thanked everyone who attended the fundraising dance or who assisted in
one way or another, including the owners of De Iron Pot Restaurant,
where the event was held.
