SELECTING YOUTH CONGRESS REPRESENTATIVE
St. George, April 28, 2008 -- The Grenada Board of Tourism (GBT) is endeavouring to ensure that Grenada’s participation in the annual Tourism Youth Congress is of the highest level possible.
In this regard the GBT is organizing a debating forum to make the
appropriate selection. This will take place at the conference room of
the Grenada Board of Tourism from 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 7, 2008.
Each of the secondary schools in Grenada and Carriacou has been invited
to participate with one debater speaking for five-minutes on the topic
“Climate Change and Tourism”. Students are expected to look at rising
sea levels, warmer sea temperatures, the growing intensity of
hurricanes and changing weather patterns and water supply.
They can also make suggestions about some of the things that can be
done to put serious focus on climate change and its impact on the
tourism sector in Grenada.
After the first round of competition the top three students selected by
a panel of judges will be invited to speak for two minutes on a mystery
topic regarding the tourism industry.
The GBT is urging all schools throughout the State to participate fully
in this important exercise. Further information may be obtained from
the GBT's public relations officer, Mr. Edwin Frank at 440-7746.
