GRENADA’S BOARD OF TOURISM CONDUCTS U.K ROAD SHOWS
St. George, May 13, 2008 -- A Grenada delegation, led by the Director of Tourism Mrs. Jocelyn Sylvester Gairy is at present in the United Kingdom conducting a series of road shows promoting Grenada.
The road shows began on Monday May 12th with a media luncheon at
Mosimann’s in Knightsbridge where journalists and hoteliers were
updated on current and planned projects in Grenada. Tuesday’s
presentation is scheduled for Gatwick Manor Hotel in London, while
Glasgow and Manchester are earmarked for Wednesday and Thursday
respectively. At all venues the members of the travel trade will be
encouraged to visit Grenada to sell the destination to their clients.
Emphasis will also be placed on the investments that are ongoing and
plans for improved airlift and accommodation facilities during the
coming years.
The United Kingdom is one of Grenada’s major source markets, and is
regarded as being very valuable with visitors staying an average of
close to two weeks. Generally visitors from the U.K. are in the age
range on 50 to 64 who are mostly retirees and repeat visitors. In this
context the Grenada Board of Tourism appreciates the value and
importance of having timely and regular shows of this nature targeting
key producing segments of the U.K. marketplace.
The Grenada delegation includes participants from the Flamboyant Hotel,
La Source, Spice Island Beach Resort, Blue Horizons Garden Resort, Mt.
Cinnamon, Grenada Grand Beach Resort, Grenadian by Rex Resort and the
True Blue Bay Resort.
