ST. ANDREW SOUTH EAST MOTHERS GET A TREAT COURTESY SENATOR EMMALIN PIERRE
St. George, May 15, 2008 -- For the third year running Senator Emmalin Pierre, tipped to contest the St. Andrew south East seat for the NNP, brought out the mothers of the Constituency to an entertaining evening.
Over 400 mothers gathered at the Grenville Secondary School on Sunday
11th May, 2008, to attend a luncheon in celebration of Mother’s Day.
The mothers were treated to song, serenade, gifts, good Grenadian
cuisine and mutual interaction, which were provided specifically for
the occasion.
In addressing the gathering, Senator Pierre urged the mothers to be
firm in taking care of their children, in what can well be perceived as
a rather hostile world.
“We have to take responsibility for the actions of our children, and we
ought to be proactive in monitoring their movements as much as possible
because it is easy for children these days to get driven by attractions
that tend to deviate from good moral practices. We have to be
watchful”, said Senator Pierre, who has been taking care of the affairs
of the Constituency of St. Andrew South East over the past few years,
working in favour of the Government.
The general view is that the area is void of effective Parliamentary
Representation and the people of the Constituency feel that Mr. Kenrick
Fullerton has neglected them.
Mr. Fullerton had resigned from taking any active part at the top of
the NDC executive after a party fall-out over an altercation he had
with his wife in what was reported to be a ‘love affair’ he appeared to
have had with another woman.
Meeting the mothers of St. Andrew South East, Prime Minister Dr. the
Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell, told the gathering to rally around Senator
Pierre because she has the potential to provide all the necessary goods
and qualities befitting a true representative.
Every year, the mothers of the Constituency look forward to this
occasion, the first being held in 2006 at the St. Andrew’s Anglican
Secondary School.
Senator Pierre expressed her happiness that the women in the
Constituency have embraced her wholeheartedly and she feels delighted
to be a part of what is now called ‘the St. Andrew South East family’.
