GRENADIAN UNIVERSITY STUDENT IN THE UNITED KINGDOM SAYS THANKS
St. George, May 19, 2008 – Peter de Savary has once again given a helping hand.
Grenadian University student Narquis Horsford studying at The London
Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom ran into some financial
difficulty and was facing the possibility of having to abandon her
degree programme. The Ministry of Education sought to assist in any
possible way by seeking financial contributions from the private sector
in Grenada -- and Peter de Savary came to the rescue.
Mr. de Savary was able to negotiate a package of assistance with the
University, where the University agreed to underwrite half the cost and
Savvy Grenada pay the other half. An eleven thousand dollar payment was
then made on behalf of Mr. de Savary which enabled Narquis to continue
her studies and receive her diploma.
On making the presentation, Resident Director of Savvy Grenada Mr.
Richard Hallam said his organization will continue to be committed to
the growth and development of the people and country of Grenada. "We
have currently committed educational financial assistance to a number
of students for the next two years, demonstrating how serious we are
about helping the people of Grenada and about our much debated
longevity on the island. We are passionate about people and will always
seek opportunities where we can empower Grenadians. We hope that
Narquis will come back to Grenada and use her knowledge positively,"
Hallam said.
In response, Mr. Horsford wrote to Mr de Savary saying "Dear Sir, I am
extremely pleased to hear the good news and would like to express my
thanks to you for the assistance in paying the balance of my tuition
fees. It has been a long and difficult struggle for me but I am happy
that the situation has been resolved and can now look forward to
getting back on track in gaining valuable experience that would help
build a career that would allow me to be successful upon my return to
Grenada. Once again thank you very much."
