The suggestion was made by Lincoln Toro Depradine, chairman of NDC
Toronto, in remarks at the official launch last Sunday of the NDC
Support Group in Montreal.
"I propose that Toronto host the meeting next year of NDC supporters in
North America,'' said Depradine, who was joined on the Montreal visit
by the secretary, treasurer and public relations officer of the Toronto
group.
Among other visitors to the Canadian city for the event were MP Peter
David, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, and
officers and members of the New York Chapter of the NDC.
Many other Grenadians – Montrealers and visitors alike – attended the
launch to receive an update from David on current developments in
Grenada, posed questions to him and offered suggestions on the future
course of the nation.
June Maitland-Fuelscher heads the Montreal Support Group, which also
staged a fund raising show and dance that featured performances from
Grenadians Puppa Lindi, Super P, Lady Mac, Doggies and Sugarman.
She said it was time for a change of government in Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique.

"I didn't join this group lightly,'' Maitland-Fuelscher explained.
"Last November, after listening to the Honourable Mr. Tillman Thomas
and his delegation from Grenada, I made a decision that Grenada needs
him to form the next government.''
The NDC, said Maitland-Fuelscher, "offers change. They promote
education which is now in a sad state. The children of today are the
future. We need to focus on education.''
The theme of change was also echoed in a message sent by Kallan Simon, co-coordinator of the NDC group in the United Kingdom.
In the message, read by New York Chapter member Derrick James, Simon
described the formation of the Montreal group as part of a "movement
for change.''
He said it's "change for a better Grenada in terms of education,
health, social justice, accountability, respect for the institutions
which govern our country's business, and the hope that our children's
future will be secured in a changing world.''
Alfred Butler, chairman of the New York Chapter, also stressed the need
for change and emphasized the importance of supporting the NDC in its
quest to set Grenada on a new path in governance and accountability,
and in economic development.
