GBT HOSTS OVERSEAS MEDIA FOR SPICE MAS 2K8
St. George, August 7, 2008 -- Following the Regional Promotional Campaign where emphasis was placed on the theme “Feel Reborn in Grenada” and where the Carnival celebrations were promoted, the Grenada Board of Tourism is now into the hosting of media personalities to provide further coverage of the festival.
The Barbados-based Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) will spend a week
in Grenada in order to produce a minimum of four (4) half hour
programmes about Grenada’s Carnival. The four-man crew will also
procure scenic shots of Grenada for use in other segments of their
programming. Also guaranteed are interviews with key tourism
officials, as well as Government and Carnival personnel for inclusion
in their news and current affairs programmes.
Arriving from Trinidad & Tobago is Mrs. Michelle Fleming of Gayelle
Television. She has been detailed to cover the Carnival festivities for
that media house.
Visiting from Germany is a three-member crew from that country’s main
television station. They will spend two weeks in Grenada sourcing
information that would allow for the production of a 45-minute
programme about several aspects of Grenada’s appeal as a destination
for European nationals.
Also visiting in his capacity as a media professional to cover this
year’s Carnival is Mr. Tony Mc Watt – the Editor-in-Chief for Caribe
Inpulse Magazine, which is a recently launched glossy publication in
Toronto Canada.
Given the importance of Carnival to Grenada’s Tourism Industry, the
Grenada Board of Tourism is pleased that it has been instrumental in
attracting this level of coverage for Carnival 2008.
