SOLIDARITY CONFERENCE FOR CUBA THIS WEEKEND
St. George's, October 10, 2008 -- Amigos de Cuba and the Cuban Embassy in Grenada are holding a Solidarity Conference for Cuba on Saturday October 11, 2008 at the GBSS auditorium.
The conference starts at 3:00 PM with an exhibition highlighting the
cooperation between Cuba and Grenada. At 4:00PM, there will be speeches
and solidarity messages from persons representing a wide cross section
of the Grenadian society.
Among the officials addressing the conference are Foreign Minister
Peter David; Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Keith Mitchell; Cuban
Ambassador, Her Excellency Margarita Delgado and Senator Chester
Humphrey.
Among the organizations invited to express solidarity with the Cuban
people at the conference are the Trade Union Council, the Technical
& Allied Workers Union (TAWU), the Grenada /Cuba Friendship
Association, the Grenada United Labour Party (GULP), the People’s
Labour Movement (PLM) and the NGO’s.
The conference comes at the heels of the two hurricanes which
devastated wide sections of Cuba. It is also happening at a time when
the Cubans are preparing to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the
Revolution which triumphed on January 1, 1959.
