TRANSFORMING ST. GEORGE 'S INTO A GREEN CITY

St. George's, December 2, 2008 -- The word's out that the Willie Redhead Foundation has received a Planning Grant from the Global Environment Facility Small Grant Programme of the UNDP to undertake a project to transform St. George’s into a GREEN CITY.

According to the Foundation, this project cannot succeed without the direct involvement of the Government of Grenada. In this regard approaches have been made to the Minister of the Environment, and the Minister of Tourism who is also the  Parliamentary representative for the town of St. George’s, among others for their help and cooperation in making this project a reality.

Since the  passage of Hurricane Ivan, the city of St. George has been denuded of its flora and fauna, and the Foundation has sought to rectify this situation by approaching the United Nations Office for Project Services which serves the OECS and Barbados.
