CARRIACOU & PETITE MARTINIQUE SWIMMERS MADE SISTER ISLES PROUD

Hillsborough, June 9, 2009 -- Forty athletes who represented the twin-island parish of Carriacou & Petite Martinique at the 2009 First Caribbean International Bank’s Primary Schools Swim Meet on June 5th & 6th, have made the islands proud.

This is despite not having a swimming pool in which to conduct training sessions.

Twenty-three teams entered the competition in which Carriacou and Petite Martinique which registered separately.

At the end of the swimming meet, Petite Martinique captured the third position, followed by Carriacou in fourth.  Jay Benjamin of Petite Martinique was rated the second best male swimmer.

All expenses for the teams participation was covered by the Ministry of Carriacou & Petite Martinique Affairs.

The meet was won by Westmorland with Alpha Junior placing second.
