MINISTRY STAGES COCA-COLA JUNIOR TENNIS TOURNAMENT
ST. GEORGE’S, JULY 3, 2009 -- The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Culture and Sports in conjunction with the Grenada Tennis Association will be staging its Coca-Cola Junior Tennis Tournament from July 4th -11th, 2009. Though matches will be played in the ten and under category on Saturday, July 4, the official opening ceremony is carded for Monday, July 6 at the Tanteen Tennis Court from 9.00a.m. Matches will be played, following the ceremony.
The Coca-Cola Junior Tennis Tournament will feature five categories –
the 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, 16 and under and 18 and
under. It is open to all Grenadians, who meet the age requirements.
Senior coach in the Ministry, Mr. Richie Hughes said, “This tournament
provides an opportunity for many students to be involved in a sporting
activity during the summer. Most parents want their children to be
involved in something meaningful during this long period away from
school – this competition will be helpful to their quest.”
It is the 14th consecutive year that the Grenada Bottling Company Ltd,
the official local distributor Coca-Cola, has sponsored the tournament.
