GCC AND CC6 TO BRING SPICE MAS TO THE WORLD

St. George's, August 4, 2009 -- The Grenada Carnival Committee, in collaboration with Community Channel 6 of Columbus Communications Grenada Ltd, will be breaking new ground this carnival with the introduction of Pay Per view of Spice Mas via webcast and cable TV.

This innovation will allow Spice Mas’ premiere events, namely the National Soca Monarch Finals, the Panorama Finals and the Dimanche Gras Calypso Monarch Finals, to reach far beyond the confines of Carnival City at the Grenada National Stadium, and engage Carnival lovers throughout the world.

Conversations were initiated in February of 2009 to ensure that this addition to the marketing and overall exposure of Spice Mas became a reality. Colin Dowe, Chairman of the Grenada Carnival Committee, in a recent interview, pointed it out that it must be recognised that contributors and lovers of Grenadian culture are not restricted to those that are resident on Island; and as such the Carnival Committee is committed to bring a slice of spice to all of those who are unable in 2009 to join us at the National Stadium.

In order to facilitate the quality of the broadcast, all of the shows will be professionally produced by the likes of Richardo Keens-Douglas and Francis Urias Peters. A single broadcast team comprising personnel from Community Channel 6 and the Government Information Service, under the stewardship of Zerith McMillan, will be used to cover the event.

Mrs. Gail Purcell, Head of Sales and Marketing of Columbus Grenada, says that this initiative brings added value to the local market. She is confident that this pioneering project will lay the groundwork for greater exposure of Grenada's local entertainment in the future.

Viewing of the events is available at www.spicemasgrenada.com, and can be purchased for a nominal fee of $10US per event for the webcast. A variety of packages has also been put together for the local Pay Per View via cable TV.  Patrons can phone Columbus Communications at 440-0845/444-3300 or text 534-FLOW to subscribe.
