GRENADA NATIONAL FOOTBALLER GETS ACADEMIC AWARD
WEST VIRGINIA, USA, FEBRUARY 3rd 2010 – Former St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School Student Kerry Bristow has been awarded the John Warner Sociology Award at the 2008 – 2009 Award Ceremony of West Virginia Wesleyan College (WVWC) in the United States.
Bristow
is one of Fifteen Grenadian footballers currently on soccer
scholarships in the United States through the Marlon Glean Soccer Camp.
Bristow left Grenada in 2005 to attend Marshalltown Community College
in Iowa, USA. After successfully completing an Associate Degree at
Marshalltown, he transferred to WVWC in 2007 to pursue a Bachelors
Degree in Social Work, and graduated in 2009. However, he decided to
go back to WVWC for an extra year where he will complete a second
Bachelors Degree in Sociology in May 2010. Bristow is already enrolled
in the Masters programme at West Virginia University (WVU) to start in
the fall of 2010.
Over the years Bristow has had many achievements on the Soccer field.
He was voted to the All Conference and All Region Soccer Team while at
Marshalltown; and was voted to the All Conference Team and was awarded
Best Defender while at WVWC. He was also very instrumental in WVWC
winning the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Soccer
Championship in 2008.
Prior to leaving Grenada, Bristow represented the Grenada National U17,
U20 and U23 football teams. He also represented Grenada in track and
field at the Carifta games.
