SPICE ISLAND BEACH RESORT HONORS MANDOO SEALES, RENOWNED TOUR GUIDE, WITH SERVICE EXCELLENCE AWARD
 

St. George, February 8, 2010 -- Mandoo Seales, Grenada's internationally known Tour Guide, was uncharacteristically caught off guard at last Wednesday's cocktail reception hosted by Spice Island Beach Resort's Sir Royston O. Hopkin, KCMG, and Lady Hopkin.

Dressed in all white as is the norm, Mandoo received a Service Excellence Award in recognition of his contribution to Grenada's Tourism Industry by demonstrating exceptionally high standards when providing enlightening tours to the island's visitors.

During his brief remarks, Sir Royston expressed appreciation for Mandoo's willingness to provide tours to travel writers and industry partners hosted by the resort.  "His answer is always 'sure!' and he never quotes a rate, leaving it instead to our discretion.  Mandoo is one of the few who understands this business, and the importance of contributing to it in the way that he has done over the years," added the resort's chairman and managing director.  

Sir Royston also lauded Mandoo's other contributions which include lecturing in schools, thereby instilling in students the value and importance of tourism to Grenada's economy.

Grenada's Minister of Tourism, Honourable Glynis Roberts, also had words of gratitude to Mandoo for his generosity.  "Every year, I arrange a picnic outing for senior citizens in my constituency on Mother's Day.  Mandoo always provides his buses free of charge and the mothers enjoy his company," said Minister Roberts.

When it was his turn to speak, Mandoo was brief and to the point.  He said, "Thanks for the vote of confidence.  Sir Royston knows he can always count on me."  He made special mention of two repeat guests in attendance at the cocktail evening who were reminding him how much they enjoyed their tour with him two years ago.   

"Mandoo is known as the 'encyclopedic tour guide,' and his name is known far and wide.  This week he appeared in an article in Britain's popular OK! magazine.  Mandoo provided a private tour to the writer who had nothing but praise for his extensive knowledge of Grenada's treasures," Sir Royston said.
