LE PHARE BLEU HOTEL STAFF'S OIL DOWN CONTEST!

St. George, February 8, 2010 -- Le Phare Bleu Marina and Boutique Hotel is a unique development, which includes a Lighthouse Ship Restaurant, located at Petite Calivigny Bay -- just a short drive away from the main hustle and bustle of the capital.

On a recent Staff Appreciation Day cook up at Hog Island, a heated debate broke out between the staff about what ingredients should go in to an Oil Down.  There were many variations.  The owners of Le Phare Bleu decided to have a Staff Oil Down Competition; and this took place over the Independence weekend.

Three staff teams entered and guests where able to taste the three different Oil Downs.  Visitors to this jewel of an island have rarely heard of Oil Down, know what it is, or what goes into it, and are intrigued.  This competition offered Oil Down virgins the opportunity to find out what it is all about; and, for the more experienced Oil Downers, the chance to try some different variations.

The three teams were team 1, Orange Slash - Amanda, Gillian and Leanna from Housekeeping helped by Kalisha from the office and Crompton from Maintenance.  Team 2, Colours – Enoch, Garvin & Cat the wonderful Le Phare Bleu Gardeners.  Team 3, The Kitchen Beavers – Max (Head Chef), Christine and Roxanne from the Poolbar Restaurant Kitchen.  All three teams took the whole event very seriously.

Le Phare Bleu bought in all the ingredients but each team supplied their own secret ingredient.  50 guests paid a small fee to take part in the tasting and filled in judging forms.  The winning team was announced later that night before the band Xtasy created the party atmosphere.  The winning team was Orange Slash.

Swiss couple Dieter Burkhalter and Jana Caniga, the owners of Le Phare Bleu and their staff enjoyed the event so much they are now debating what the next staff competition event will be.  Lynn Fletcher, Hotel Manager said “Staff events like this help with the motivation of our team and bring us all closer together, even if it does create a bit of friendly rivalry.  Staff training and team building are the main focus for us this year, as we know it is our staff who make the real difference -- not just our great facilities.”

Le Phare Bleu offers beach villa accommodation, Poolbar Restaurant, Lightship Restaurant, Vastra Banken, swimming pool, safe and easily accessible beach.  If you would like to be placed on the Le Phare Bleu emailing list to be kept informed of special events call them on 444 2400.
