MT. HORNE WINS THE INAUGURAL 2010 NATIONAL CLUB CRICKET 20/20 TOURNAMENT

ST. GEORGE’S, FEBRUARY 15, 2010 -- Mt. Horne is the champion of the inaugural Ministry of Youth Empowerment & Sports 20/20 National Cricket Club Tournament. They beat Lesborn by 67 runs on Sunday to win the coveted trophy and a cheque for $8000 dollars. Runners-up, Lesborn received $5,000.

congratulated Mt. Horne on its remarkable success.
Scores in the match were: Mt. Horne 142 for 7 off 20 overs and Lesborn
replied with 123 all out. For Lesborn, Harry Charles scored 43 not out
and Javan Abraham captured 2 for 22 off 4 overs. About 600 spectators
were on hand to witness the match.
Earlier in the day, Idlers defeated Police to steal the third place
position. They received a cheque for $3,000 as a reward for their
success. Scores in the match were: Idlers 158 for 6 off 20 overs;
Police 106 all out. For Idlers, Lyndon Joseph scored 49 and took 6 for
14 off 2.4 overs. It was the best bowling display in the competition.
On Saturday 13th February, Mt. Horne and Idlers clashed for a place in
the final and it was Mt. Horne who got there as they beat Idlers
comprehensively by 34 runs. Scores were: Mt Horne 146 for 7 off 20
overs with Camilus Alexander tallying 33; Idlers replied with 112 for 7
off 20 overs.
In the other semi-final match on Saturday, Lesborn beat Police by nine
runs in a thrilling contest. Scores in the match were: Lesborn 177 for
5 off 20 overs; Harry Charles 44 not out, and Denroy Lewis 44, not
out. Police, 168 for 8 off 20 with Leon Chichester 64 and Garfield
Charles 35. Fabian Marrrast captured four 25 off 4 overs for Lesborn.
