INCIDENT AT GRAND ANSE BEACH
To whom it may concern
On a recent cruise on the P & O ship, Ventura, we called at Grand Anse Beach on Monday, 15th February, 2010, and unfortunately my husband was the victim of a distraction robbery when 100 American dollars was stolen from my handbag by a young woman who stopped to talk to him after I had gone for a walk along the beach.
The incident had a happy ending because of the diligence and help of
'Jack Sparrow' from whom we hired beds and an umbrella; and Nikki who
served us with a drink together with two members of The Royal Grenada
Police Tourism Task Force, R. C Roberts and W. R. C Jacob.
They told us that they would find the girl, particularly Nikki who said
she knew her and gave a description of what she was wearing. An hour
after the incident, and after many of the beach sellers had come to us
apologising for the actions of this girl, the Task Force police
officers turned up with the girl and gave us all our money back.
We would like to commend the two officers for their help in solving the
crime in such a short time and I hope that the girl was made to pay a
penalty for her actions which besmirches the name of Grenada.
We have been coming to the Caribbean for many years and have never
experienced an incident of this nature. It was our third visit to
Grand Anse, and our fourth visit to Grenada because we love the area
so much and have happy memories of previous visits.
It will in no way deter us from returning to Grenada there are many
good people on the island; only too happy to ensure that tourists have
the best memories of their visit and I would like you to convey our
thanks to The Royal Grenada Police Force.
Sincerely
Margaret and Malcolm Scott
