Gender coordinator, Ministry of Social Development, Alice Victor-Alexander
Hillsborough, Carriacou, March 8, 2010- The women of Carriacou have been encouraged to think of the way they do things, including their mode of dress and their behaviour in the private and public spheres.
The word of encouragement came from Alice Victor-Alexander, Coordinator
of Gender Affairs in the Ministry of Social Development of the
Government of Grenada. She was speaking at a ladies’ evening out
organised by the Division of Gender and Family Affairs of the Ministry
of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs.
Gender coordinator for Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Vinisha Cudjoe
The event, held in recognition of the observance of International
Women's Day 2010, was also addressed by Vinishah Cudjoe, Gender
Coordinator for Carriacou and Petite Martinique. She applauded the men
who support the cause of women and who see women's improvement not as a
threat, but as a compliment.
Various women's organisations in Carriacou were represented at the evening out, which was held at John’s Unique Resort.
International Women's Day, which was inaugurated in 1911, celebrates
the achievement of women and promotes their freedom and social and
economic equality for them.
