The event, held in recognition of the observance of International Women's Day 2010, was also addressed by Vinishah Cudjoe, Gender Coordinator for Carriacou and Petite Martinique. She applauded the men who support the cause of women and who see women's improvement not as a threat, but as a compliment.

Various women's organisations in Carriacou were represented at the evening out, which was held at John’s Unique Resort.

International Women's Day, which was inaugurated in 1911, celebrates the achievement of women and promotes their freedom and social and economic equality for them.
