GRENADA PARTICIPATES IN ITB
St. George’s, March 8, 2010 -- Tourism Minister, Glynis Roberts is leading a 10-member Grenada delegation to the annual International Trade Bolsa, (ITB) in Berlin, Germany from March 10 – 14, 2010.
ITB is one of the two trade show events that Grenada attends annually
in Germany. The other is the European Tourism Exhibition (CMT) which is
held in Stuttgart in January. Participation in both events reflects the
significance of the German market to Grenada’s tourism industry, and
the potential for further growth as Germany emerges from the current
global economic recession where forecasters are projecting growth of
between 1.5% and 1.7% in 2010.
Considered as one of the biggest trade and consumer shows in the world,
ITB enables tourism destinations to build awareness, network, and
showcase their products and services to thousands of visitors from
around the world.
During this year’s event, the Grenada delegation will, among other
things, maximize its public relations mileage for the destination,
negotiate with Condor Airlines to offer more attractive seasonal fares
for tourists destined to Grenada, reintroduce a co-advertising plan,
and collaborate with stakeholders to create attractive package deals
for families and youth.
The Grenada booth for this trade & consumer show is located in the
Caribbean section of the venue. The glass bottomed floor is featuring
an underwater theme, while the booth itself showcases Grenada’s flowers
and spices, tropical fishes, as well as a display of destination
images.
For this major marketing event, the Grenada Board of Tourism’s
delegation comprises the Chairman, Mr. Richard Strachan, and Director
of Tourism Mr. William Joseph. Other participants include
representatives from the Blue Horizons Garden Resort, Mount Cinnamon
Beach Resort, Spice Island Beach Resort, Gem Holiday Beach Resort,
Sunsation Tours and Karibike Reisen (Wildlife Expeditions).
