SUNWING INAUGURAL FLIGHT TO GRENADA
St. George’s, November 24, 2009 - Today Grenada added Sunwing Airlines to its growing list of international carriers.
Since being made aware of the planned commencement of service, it has
proven exceptionally difficult for The Grenada Board of Tourism to
obtain information concerning the logistics and indeed the marketing of
this flight. The Board of Tourism had on numerous occasions requested
its representatives in Toronto to seek information re: the above
matters.
The Grenada Board of Tourism wishes to make it absolutely clear that it had no information concerning Mr. Tiwari’s presence on the flight. Regarding Ms. Jenny Gumbs, the Board’s Public Relations Officer was advised last night and up to the time of the flight this morning, the Director of Tourism was himself not aware of this fact. Standard welcome arrangements for any new airline entering Grenada involves the agents for the flight, the Grenada Airport Authority and the Grenada Board of Tourism. The Grenada Board of Tourism followed usual procedure for arranging a welcome by engaging the agents of the flight – Aviation Services of Grenada. The Grenada Board of Tourism was subsequently informed by Aviation Services Grenada that it did not plan to host a function for this particular flight and that it would do so on a later and more suitable occasion. Accordingly, the Board of Tourism did not make nor did it participate in the making of that decision. The Grenada Board of Tourism strongly believes in seizing every opportunity to showcase the warmth our people and the hospitality for which we are so well known. We look forward to extending a warm, official welcome to Sunwing Airlines. These plans will certainly be a part of the discussion when Sunwing, Sunrise and Grenada Board of Tourism representatives meet on Wednesday 25th November, while in Canada for the Travel Media Association Awards. |
