REPORTS IN THE MEDIA ARE INCORRECT
St. George's, December 1, 2009 -- The Grenada Airports Authority wishes to set the record straight with regards to reports circulating that Sunwing Flight 707 was unable to land at MBIA at its scheduled arrival time on November 24, 2009.
The operational hours of the Maurice Bishop International Airport are
6:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. This information is published in the
Aeronautical Information Publication (A.I.P) and is available to all
operators.
Arrangements can be made for an aircraft to use the airport outside of the published hours, however, these arrangements are made prior to flight operation. Sunwing Flight 707 was scheduled to land at MBIA at 5:50 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday November 24th . At 5:35 a.m. the flight established contact with the MBIA Tower and obtained the necessary clearance to execute the published instrument approach. The aircraft carried out and completed its descent manoeuvre and landed at 5:53 a.m. Reports being aired in the media that the flight was kept holding because of late operation of the airport is incorrect. |
