A CALL FOR RESTRAINT

St. George, February 15, 2010 -- The Season of Lent begins on Wednesday 17th February 2010, Ash Wednesday. This period of about forty days leads up to the celebration of the suffering and death of Jesus in Holy Week and to his glorious resurrection on Easter Sunday.

The Conference of Churches in Grenada together with the Alliance of Evangelical Churches is calling on all to observe this period of six weeks as a time of reflection and repentance.
 
We are asking all media houses, especially our FM stations and TV channels together with the promoters of live shows, to exercise restraint in the type of music they play and the shows they put on. We are asking them in particular to avoid all forms of rudeness, vulgarity and obscenity as well as anything that militates against Christian morality.

We thank all media practitioners for the very positive response to a similar appeal made in 2009. We look forward to a similar response this year.
