Because of increased activity at the Kick ’em Jenny underwater volcano the alert level has been raised from Yellow to Orange.
The site is being monitored by the Seismic Research Center at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad who alerted the National Disaster Management Agency here on Monday.
With the increase in activity and escalation of the alert level, ships and other marine operators have been asked to observe the 5km/3.1miles exclusion zone.
Kick ’em Jenny is a submarine volcano located 8km north of Grenada. The volcano is about 1300m high and 300m wide at its summit, which is currently thought to be about 180m below the surface of the sea.
