OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS FROM BARBADOS AND EASTERN CARIBBEAN

Bridgetown -- The British High Commission announces that the UK's Chevening Scholarship scheme is now open for students wishing to study in the UK in the academic year 2016-2017.  Applications will be accepted online from nationals of Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean who wish to pursue fully funded postgraduate studies at any academic institution in the UK.

GRENADIAN TERAH ANTOINE TO PARTICIPATE IN A U.S. GOVERNMENT-SPONSORED LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

St. George -- Terah Antoine will travel to the United States as the latest Eastern Caribbean candidate of the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).

Antoine is an energy officer in the Energy Division of the Ministry of Finance and Energy in Grenada.  She will take part in a one-week professional exchange program on renewable energy with 11 other candidates from the region.

In June 2014, United States Vice President Joe Biden unveiled the Caribbean Energy Security Initiative (CESI) to help the Caribbean improve its energy security. The United States Government's commitment to energy security in the Caribbean was reinforced by the Vice President's Caribbean Energy Security Summit (CESS) held in Washington, D.C. on January 26, 2015.

GRAND ANSE BEACH WATER-SPORTS OPERATORS RECEIVE FIRST AID TRAINING

St. George – Eleven water-sports operators from the Grand Anse beach have been trained in first aid and CPR by the Grenada Red Cross. The Grenada Tourism Authority facilitated the training in an effort to add safety to patrons engaging in water-sports activities on the most-visited beach on the island.
