CARIBBEAN POLITICAL, BUSINESS LEADERS MEET ON BRANSON'S PRIVATE ISLAND TO DISCUSS CONSERVATION

NECKER ISLAND — Surrounded by a turquoise sea and a menagerie of exotic animals on a billionaire's private island, political and business leaders gathered Friday to back an initiative aimed at expanding protection for the Caribbean's imperilled coasts and waters.

NEW PERMANENT SECRETARY APPOINTED

Hillsborough - Educator Gertrude Simon-Niles has been appointed to the post of Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs.

Employed within the public service from 1979, Mrs. Niles brings with her a wealth of experience, having served as a teacher, principal and area education officer.

Her vision, she said, "Is to ensure that the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs is managed effectively so that every citizen in the twin isle parish can benefit from the programs of the Government of Grenada."
