The naming of our national athletic stadium in honour of Grenada's first ever Olympic goal medallist Kirani James is overpoweringly deserving and undoubtedly long overdue. His name ought to be vividly displayed in the brightest colors on this iconic structure donated to Grenada by the Government and People of China and will unquestionably inspire this generation of young people and many others in their pursuit of excellence in sport and other endeavours.

GRENADA LEAVES RIO WITH HIGH HOPES

Kurt Felix believes the exploits of Grenadian Decathletes will encourage more young Grenadian athletes to participate in the multi-events."We definitely have talent back at home and with what we're doing here, there'll be athletes back home who have the potential to surpass what we're doing right now," he said.Felix, who placed ninth in the Men's Decathlon at the Rio Olympic Games, also wants the multi-events to be included in the annual Inter-col championships.

JAMES AND TAPLIN SAY "THANK YOU"

Grenada's two Olympic 400 metres finalists say thank you to the support from Grenadians throughout their 2016 Olympic journey.
Kirani James, who won the silver medal on Sunday night, and Bralon Taplin, who finished seventh, described the support as motivating factors.
The Grenadians were part of a record-breaking experience where South African Wayde van Niekerk broke Michael Johnson's 17-year-old world record when he crossed the finish line in 43.03 seconds.

KURT FELIX AND LINDON VICTOR TAKE CENTER STAGE

Rio de Janeiro - Kurt Felix and Lindon Victor begin the Men's Decathlon tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Olympic Stadium in Rio.

They will contest the first of the 10 events over two days.

Felix will run in Heat 1 of the 100 metres at 9:30 a.m. (8:30 a.m. Grenada) while Lindon goes into Heat 4 at 9:54 a.m. (8:54 a.m. Grenada).

They will also compete in the Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump and 400m on the opening day.
