GRENADA TOURISM BRANDING ISSUE

A distinction needs to be made between a national brand and a tourism brand. However, while one branding may serve both purposes, many destinations tend to choose a pure stand tourism brand. For example, in the case of St Lucia, they recently re-branded their tourism from "St. Lucia-Simply Beautiful" to "St Lucia". But St. Lucia is also known as the "Helen of the West" and the "Land of the Pitons."

TOURISM ORGANIZATION (CTO) HAS RELEASED COMPLETE 2013 VISITOR ARRIVAL DATA FOR MOST CARIBBEAN DESTINATIONS. BRIAN SAMUEL LOOKS AT WINNERS AND LOSERS

For us number-crunchers, the performance of the tourism industry is measured by several widely accepted indicators: stay-over visitor arrivals, cruise ship arrivals, average length of stay; occupancy and room rates, average spend and visitor satisfaction – to name but a few. The only reliable data we have for 2013 so far has just been published by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) – visitor arrivals. For analysts of the Caribbean tourism industry, the CTO's annual Visitor Arrival Statistics are an invaluable source of hard data on the performance of the Region as a whole, and its constituent parts.

TWO KILLED IN ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISE SHIP ACCIDENT ON ST.KITTS

St. Kitts -- Two men tragically lost their lives in an accident involving Royal Caribbean's 'Independence of the Seas' on  St.Kitts on Wednesday . Reports are that The two men apparently were assisting with the unberthing process of the cruise vessel when it overturned while the ship was pulling out of port.
