ANOTHER TROPICAL WAVE INCHES CLOSER

Written by on August 8, 2018

BASED ON 2:00 PM, AUGUST 08TH SURFACE ANALYSIS, SATELLITE IMAGERY AND MODEL GUIDANCE THROUGH 8:00 PM, AUGUST 08TH

A TROPICAL WAVE AXIS IN THE CENTRAL ATLANTIC EXTENDS FROM 18N52W TO 06N52W, MOVING WEST AT 10-15 KT. THIS WAVE HAS A WELL-DEFINED INVERTED V SURFACE PATTERN NOTED ON SATELLITE IMAGERY, AND A LARGE 700 MB TROUGH. IT IS BEING AFFECTED BY SAHARAN DRY AIR TO ITS WEST AND N OF 12N. SCATTERED MODERATE CONVECTION IS FROM 09N-11N BETWEEN 52W-56W.

MODEL GUIDANCE DOES NOT SUGGEST THE POTENTIAL FOR ANY SIGNIFICANT CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS WAVE AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE TOWARDS THE LESSER ANTILLES. THEREFORE, ONLY SOME LIGHT TO MODERATE SCATTERED SHOWERS AND A LOW CHANCE OF ISOLATED THUNDERSHOWERS ARE EXPECTED THROUGHOUT THE  STATE OF GRENADA BEGINNING ON THURSDAY.
