Hillsborough Bay — Carriacou, saw the launch of a very special boat on Saturday 8th June. Catamaran “Bobcat” is the first of its kind to be built in Carriacou.

Home of the famous Carriacou Sloop, the catamaran is an exciting new product for the island. Its launch was the culmination of a 7 month long build project, and was anticipated with great excitement.

Purpose-built for diving and excursions, “Bobcat” measures 29.6 ft long and 15 ft wide. The catamaran design provides a spacious, stable platform. It can comfortably carry 8 divers and two staff on a two tank dive to any of the 30 beautiful dive sites around Carriacou. The narrow entry and shallow draft of each hull allow it to be run with two economical 40 HP outboard engines, reaching speeds of up to 18 knots.

This has vastly extended the range of excursions and dive trips from Carriacou, opening up the wealth of island gems surrounding Carriacou, all the way to Isle de Rhonde. In addition to diving and snorkelling trips the catamaran will be available for charter, sunset cruises, and island sight-seeing tours from the water. Bobcat is planned to officially go into service from 01st July, 2013.
