CHARGES LAID IN LATEST DRUG BUST

A St. Mark resident who was nabbed by police during a drug bust has been charged with trafficking of a controlled drug.  Wayne Suralie, 18, Fisherman of Waltham was granted 20-thousand dollars bail with two sureties after appearing in Court.  He is scheduled to appear at the Victoria Magistrate’s Court on June 14th 2018.

Also two St. John residents have been jointly charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.  Kevin Paul, 28, and Tahir Bain, 22, were each placed on 10-thousand dollars bail with one surety.  They will appear at the Gouyave Magistrate’s Court on July 6th 2018.

Meanwhile, Dick Williams, a 56 year-old, mechanic of Grand Mal, will appear at the St. George’s Magistrate’s Court #1 on Thursday 17th May, 2018 on charges of trafficking and importing of a controlled drug in connection with the seizure of 198 pounds of cannabis.

On Monday, police announced that so far this year, the force had confiscated more than 3,700 pounds of marijuana — exceeding all of last year’s drug haul of 3,100 pounds
