CHEREBIN & OLLIVIERRE REPRESENT GRENADA AT UPCOMING COMMONWEALTH GAMES

Oreoluwa Cherebin and Corey Ollivierre two members of Grenada’s Swimming fraternity have journeyed to Australia as part of Grenada’s delegation of athletes participating in the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018).  Over 6000 athletes and team officials from 71 Commonwealth Nations will descend on the host cities of Brisbane, Cairns, & Townsville to share the celebration of sport, education & culture.

Cherebin & Ollivierre, both former Olympic swimmers for Grenada, will compete in the following events: the 50-meter breaststroke, freestyle and the 100 meter breaststroke; while Cherebin will additionally compete in the 50-meter butterfly. Both swimmers are currently based overseas, Ollivierre at Florida Institute of Technology and Cherebin at Fairfield University pursuing further swim training and academic studies.

GC2018 swim events kick off on Thursday April 5 at the Gold Coast Optus Aquatic Centre. The Games will also stage the largest para-sport swimming programme in the event’s history.  GASA’s president, Peron Johnson states “both Corey & Ore have represented Grenada well on the highest stage in the swimming arena, and we look forward to their continued excellence in pursuit of their personal best times”.
