Winning the 2016 GRENLEC Debating Competition has reaped positive benefits for the students and staff of the Hillsborough Secondary School.
On Monday, the school became the proud recipient of a modern language laboratory at a special ceremony which was held to mark the occasion.
Head of the Language Department at the school Keisha McFarlane pointed to numerous benefits to be derived from the establishment of the lab, including the use of more resources and varied activities than in a traditional classroom.
Brian Lendore, the school’s principal said that the need was clear since the shortcomings in languages over the years had resulted in non-satisfactory performances; and thanked the Grenada Electricity Services for making the laboratory possible.
The goal now is to increase the success rate in English Language — both at the school level and at external exams; as well as to introduce other modern languages.
