NEW NATIONAL PARTY 2017 CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
Written by George Grant on December 19, 2017
With 2017 coming to a close, the New National Party extends the warmest of wishes to all Grenadians and friends of Grenada in this season of joy and good will.
As we celebrate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ and give praise, it is also time for us to reflect on the sacrifices and major accomplishments we have achieved as a people. In less than five years we have seen our Nation’s fortunes turn around, from those dark days of despair and hopelessness, to a Nation with hope restored and increasing opportunities.
Today, Grenada has emerged from being one of the worst performing nations to the best performing in the region, with unemployment significantly lower that it was five years ago.
Today Grenada is getting its financial house in order and has now started to live within its means. Business and investor confidence have been visibly restored, evidenced by increased economic activity, and the many private and public sector projects well under way.
Today Grenada has regained its self-respect and is now seen internationally as a leading nation within the region and a model for others to follow.
Whether in the areas of healthcare, education, housing, support for our youth, our farmers and fisher folk, and our most vulnerable, the levels of support and services offered have increased over the past five years, and increased significantly.
It is through the combined efforts, sacrifices and support of our people, the churches, the trade union movement, the business community and civil society have we been able to achieve so much. It is through this spirit of national unity that we have been able to move so far forward from where we were, to where we are today as we continue to move closer to where we need to be as a nation.
This is not to say the work is done. The New National Party recognizes that although many are benefiting from this turn around, there are still those who are yet to directly feel the benefits. Therefore the work must continue as we keep moving forward in the positive development of this beautiful nation of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
We wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a bright and prosperous New Year.
