TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK (COURTESY: NHC)

Written by on August 12, 2018

BASED ON 2:00 PM, AUGUST 12TH SURFACE ANALYSIS, SATELLITE IMAGERY AND MODEL GUIDANCE THROUGH 7:45 PM, AUGUST 12TH

TROPICAL WAVE 1: AN ATLANTIC TROPICAL WAVE IS ALONG 52W FROM 21N SOUTHWARD. SCATTERED MODERATE RAINSHOWERS ARE FROM 07N TO 11N BETWEEN 49W AND 61W. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOME OF THIS PRECIPITATION IS ALSO RELATED TO THE ITCZ.

MODEL GUIDANCE IS INDICATING THE POTENTIAL FOR CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS WAVE AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE TOWARDS THE LESSER ANTILLES. THEREFORE, MODERATE TO HEAVY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND POSSIBLE ISOLATED NIGHTTIME THUNDERSHOWERS ARE EXPECTED ON MONDAY, ESPECIALLY IN THE SOUTHERN SECTOR OF THE ISLAND.

AN INCREASE IN CLOUDINESS, SHOWERS AND THUNDERSHOWERS IS EXPECTED BY TUESDAY MORNING; HENCE, A FLOOD WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING!

REGARDLESS, TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED WITHIN THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
